Gallatin's Mission: Powering Every Mile on the Silent Rails of Force

Woody Glier - CEO & Co-Founder

The Challenge

Logistics are the silent rails that carry military power—and they are rusting beneath our feet. Today's defense logistics systems, built for 20th-century conflicts, risk failure against emerging threats. Our adversaries understand this vulnerability; we must too.

Consider the stalled 60-kilometer Russian convoy outside Kyiv in March 2022. Beyond fierce Ukrainian resistance, it was basic logistical breakdowns—fuel shortages, poor maintenance, and chaotic coordination—that halted the advance. If logistical collapse can cripple a major power operating in its own backyard, what vulnerabilities could adversaries exploit when the United States and its allies attempt to project power thousands of miles away?

The generational shift toward smaller, agile, and attritable military systems dramatically increases logistical complexity and places unprecedented strain on existing supply chains. There is a clear and accelerating trend towards larger numbers of smaller assets that must be managed, tracked, and delivered at greater speeds and higher volumes than ever before. Today's legacy infrastructure and manual workflows simply cannot keep pace with this fundamental shift to the realities of defense operations.

Our Vision

We founded Gallatin because the credibility of deterrence depends on logistics capabilities that can withstand emerging and asymmetric threats. We are concerned that our adversaries increasingly view sustainment operations as a critical weakness in our defense systems—yet across the allied enterprise, from industrial base to tactical edge, logistics remains dependent on outdated manual processes lacking both innovation and urgency.

To sustain credible deterrence, logistics must evolve into capabilities that are responsive, resilient, and adaptable. We must demonstrate clearly that no matter how unpredictable the challenge, we can rapidly project and sustain combat power precisely where and when commanders need it.

Gallatin believes deeply that advanced software and artificial intelligence must power the logistics enterprise of the future—enabling instantaneous sensing, decision-making, and responses to dynamic battlefield conditions.

Our Solution

The fundamental challenge in military logistics has always been balancing competing priorities - the challenging choice between supply chains optimized for efficiency (cost) OR effectiveness (readiness). The potential of AI and modern software engineering enables commanders and logisticians to actually balance and shift between these priorities as strategic circumstances demand—managing costs in peacetime while maintaining the ability to rapidly scale for conflict.

Gallatin AI is developing advanced software tools and capabilities to address logistics challenges throughout the entire defense sustainment tail. We empower defense planners and logisticians at any echelon to anticipate demand, optimize inventory, synchronize transportation, manage maintenance, and swiftly adapt to disruptions. We transform workflows from reactive to predictive, automating complex decision-making to ensure both efficiency and effectiveness.
